Spring Term 2024

Science - Life Science Centre

As part of Science Week the children in Class 5 visited the Life Science Centre in Newcastle.  The day was super busy with interactive activities, a planetarium show and workshop, a science theatre light show and an extreme materials workshop.  We hope you enjoy looking at the photographs of our science day.

 Interactive Zones - Wow

Extreme materials workshop -  In this workshop the children were challenged to discover which materials were most suitable for building in the extreme conditions of Antarctica.   The children tested materials for their strength, insulation and absorption properties.

The Planetarium - we learnt about different constellations and even took a rocket journey to the moon.

Advent around the World

In Class 5 the children learnt about the Legend of the Poinsettia and how the plant links to Christmas.

This half term in Design Technology lessons the children in Class 5 have designed, made and evaluated their Christmas biscuit.  We hope you enjoyed your present.

Residential - Marrick Priory

We had a fabulous weekend in the Yorkshire Dales team building and enjoying outdoor activities.  Although it was cold we all kept active, challenged ourselves and moved out of our comfort zones.

Harry Potter day

Magic and wizardry were evident in upper school on our wonderful Harry Potter day.  The children in class 5 entered Hogwarts and had lessons in potions and herbology.  It was a great day and thank you for the wonderful costumes.

Class 5  learning - start of new year

The children in class 5 have had an exciting start to the school year.  We have had a Parliament workshop and an autistic awareness workshop.  In Geography the children modelled coastal features from playdoh.
