French
We wish all our children to respect and celebrate difference, so they may play a valuable role within our global society. The learning of a foreign language supports this aim by providing liberation from insularity and an opening to another culture. In addition, the learning of another language will help children to develop their communication skills, including the key skills of speaking and listening, and extends their knowledge of how language works.
The intent of our French curriculum is to inspire a love of language as part of their lifelong journey of learning, through enjoyable and stimulating lessons. We strive to stimulate and encourage children’s curiosity about language whilst developing their confidence. We aim to embed the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing necessary to enable children to use and apply their French learning in a variety of contexts and lay the foundations for future language learning.
